Goal 13: Improve access to (and retention in) recovery-oriented supportive housing for persons with mental illness who are homeless or inadequately/unsafely housed.
Pathways To Permanent Housing has received its occupancy permit from the Milwaukee Board of Zoning Appeals (BOZA). Due to there being no opposition from the neighborhood or Alderman, BOZA granted a five-year occupancy permit. Construction is almost complete. The rooms have been completely remodeled, and all new furniture has been delivered. The only remaining rehab to be completed is the kitchen area. Once that is complete, individuals may move in this month.
To increase the supply of permanent supportive housing, the Housing Division will be putting out an RFP early this summer to provide acquisition or rehabilitation funds for agencies to provide supportive housing for individuals aging out of foster care and receiving services through Milwaukee County Wraparound. Housing will ensure all Redesign partners receive notification of the RFP.
Goal 12: Increase the number of individuals with mental illness who are engaged in employment, education, or other vocational-related activities.
To accomplish some of the Community Linkages employment goals, the Housing Division continues to put in place policies and procedures in the Community Development Block Grant program to use economic development funds for small business to expand and in turn create new jobs for consumers.
